This is my project 12, they are wedding invitations that I did for a client. I am wondering if the wood background works well for the mock up? There is an entire set, invitations, envelopes, rsvp single page site (desktop & mobile), tablecards and placecards.

  1. Collleen, I think the wood works well as a contrast to the script/formal nature of the pieces. The use of sans serif font and contrast in shapes/sizes lends the design a contemporary feel that sits well on the wood. The wood tone, also, fits with the color palette of the design (blue-grey).

In some cases, I feel like the drop shadow could be darkened a tad (not much) to add contrast to the edges of your pieces against the wood surface.

Lastly - when you are adding smaller lines of type to the bottom of the asymmetrical position of Mr. & Mrs. John Smith I really encourage you not to center the type... but re-balance the element with visual weight in mind. Centering the address under the name (like on the envelope) doesn't make sense unless the address was much smaller, and pulled down, away from the names so they don't have such a close relationship.

That's it - this will be a strong portfolio piece!
