Welcome to the Fall 2014 Portfolio Class Blog

This is where, as part of the requirements for this class, you will post your work and receive individualized feedback - from me and your peers. You are required to post at least once a week and comment on at least 2 other student's work. This is a great way to get quick feedback for your work, allowing it to progress, develop, and be the best design work you can produce. I'm looking forward to what the class will do with this space this quarter!

How to participate in the blog:
1. Procure a gmail account
2. Send me your account name so I can add you, as an author, to this blog
3. Posting your work also means you attach a "label" that is your name, to your post
4. Post once a week, and comment at least twice a week.

To start things off, I'll post a recent project of mine. Please leave a comment.

  1. I really enjoy the color palette on this label, i feel these are difficult colors to work with but this came together really nicely.

  2. i like this piece but i feel like the guy and the plants next to him is a little to much maybe having either one and then centering what ever one you choose would give it a little more breathing room. also the typeface at the bottom brown strip i feel could be something less playful maybe like a geramond or times new roman or even the font used on the nutrition facts list

  3. I think the color palette allows for a high amount of contrast that creates the focal image of the man, then the food illustrations. I am also assuming that this goes on a circular bottle rather than a square because i think the circle gradient behind the man and the circular arch at the top of Jeshua's really adds to the shape in which it is placed on the bottle (if that makes sense) I think it contributes the the success of the label.

  4. Yes - the bottle is round, and the portrait (my client) is also a Hollywood actor of some repute (day time TV). That's why we decided to use his likeness. Thanks for the thoughts everyone.
