BTC AD

Hey everyone, so this the first project that i am editing this quarter. This project is a advertising campaign for the Brookline Teen Center. The Target Audience are Teen, from grade 9-12. The feedback that i got last week was to redo the logo and also to ad call to action line at the bottom and finally try to  ask permission for the rights of use of some photos or i had to find new ones.

EDITING

I started editing by re-creating the logo, i wanted to create good and effective monogram logo that represented boston and the Brookline Teen Center.I kept the same color sins that it was one of the strong theme of this project. I am still waiting on an email to see if can use some of the old images sins they were strong enough to add good value to the piece, but at the mean time i found this images on thinkstock.com potentially with a little editing could give a stronger value then the old images. Finally i adde the call to action by saying "Come Visit US to Explore Your Possibility".

  1. I think the geometric pattern on here is really modern and up-to-date, the vibrant but cool colors speak very nicely to your target audience. My only suggestion is perhaps differentiate the call to action from the name and address of the place? Perhaps make the call to action larger?

  2. Jose - Nice logo rework. I also think the addition of the Call to Action is a good idea... but I question its position here at the bottom, as if it is an afterthought. Here it sits with the same emphasis as the address.. which is NOT something we need to look at initially to understand the message here. Both lines, down here, are a bit awkward together, leaving strange neg space in the orange shape.

So... where else can this Call to Action sit? Consider the orange space below "What's Your Passion?" since it's a trapped shape that isn't doing much for the design at the moment. Reconsider font/style/size for the Call to Action.

After you have repositioned the Call, then please return to the bottom and think about the position and size of the address. Please be more aware of the negative shapes you are creating as you make your decisions about this line of text.

Now, here is actually the big question I have about your design approach... do you really need to stoke each triangle on the cover with a thick orange line? I tend to think that this heaviness is dominating the design... and cutting it up. Is this working against the unity of the page? Maybe not all areas need this outline? Maybe it is too thick? Maybe contrasting colors could be used to fill the triangle shapes instead of the orange lines?

And here is another inconsistency that adds contrast to an already over-contrasted abstract approach: sometimes the outline width is consistent and at other times it isn't. Why does it change? What meaning does that hold for the message you are trying to communicate?

I understand that these shapes/strokes are serving to separate the photos... but they are so very heavy that they also divide and carve up the whole format.

I realize I'm asking you to rethink some of your initial decisions with this project, but I want to make sure you aren't restricting yourself to earlier decisions as you go forward with this redesign that might be standing in the way of making this the best it can be.

I agree that you will need to Photoshop the images and control their colors to work well with the color palette here. Cropping the images may also be a challenge, but worth the effort, so that we see the important parts of the photos in these irregular shaped frames.

Looking forward to seeing what's next here.

  3. The logo rework looks great, very sleek and modern; but it looks a little out of place against the bouncy colors and misshaped triangles. Possibly round out the edges on the logo or scale it down.
